Jodi Lawler is a licensed psychotherapist, having received both her B.S. (1984) and M.S.W. (1986) degrees from UW-Milwaukee. Her internships included The Counseling Center of Milwaukee, DePaul Belleview and The Milwaukee Women's Refuge. Upon graduating in 1986, she worked for several years as Coordinator of the Adolescent Substance Abuse Program at Wisconsin Correctional Service providing outpatient psychotherapy to teens, their families and adults addressing severe and chronic mental illness as well as substance dependence. She then worked as a teacher in Whitefish Bay from 1996-2004. From 2004-2012, she served as a Clinical Substance Abuse Counselor (CSAC) at Meta House, a residential substance abuse treatment program for women and their children, where she gained extensive experience working with individuals and their families. She also supervised their graduate student program (ICS). She facilitated trauma, Stage of Change and Process groups and developed an educational curriculum for clients and their families. She participated in a pilot program with Family Treatment Court focusing on keeping families together. She had a private practice with Health Psychology Associates before joining Cornerstone Counseling Services in 2014. In addition to her private practice, she works as an outpatient psychotherapist for Outreach Community Health Centers, providing individual and couples therapy as well as facilitating their trauma group. Her orientation to psychotherapy is psychodynamic and cognitive behavioral, focusing on the individual needs of each client and determining what best suits their personal style. Jodi's specialties include, but are not limited to, PTSD/trauma, anxiety disorders with or without agoraphobia, depression, grief and loss, domestic violence, anger management, divorce, addiction and chronic mental illness.
